About Me
My name is Tim Isaacson. I’m the pastor of a church in the Chamblee-Doraville section of Atlanta, GA. I have one wife and two sons.
I didn’t walk into ministry through the front door. My background and education are in public health.
My theology is Reformed. I attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. I’ve also have degrees from Texas A&M University (B.S.) and the University of California at Berkeley (M.P.H.).
I enjoy speculative fiction, especially the cultural insights and critiques that use to be called Cyberpunk. Another genre I enjoy is the mixing of celtic and other mythology into contemporary urban environments (De Lint, Bull, and others). Currently qued up on my MP3 are Derek Webb, Jonny Lang, John Michael Talbot, Nickel Creek, the GooGoo Dolls, Finger 11, Shinedown, and Stone Sour…yeh, I’m all over the board.
My journey in this transformation has been informed in significant ways by the following: Shaping of Things To Come by Frost and Hirsch, Unstoppable Force by McManus, Living Faithfully In A Fragmented World by Wilson, The Emotionally Healthy Church by Scazzero, Outgrowing the Ingrown Church by Miller, and The Celtic Way of Evangelism by Hunter.
In addition to these challenging, insightful authors writing about mission and the church, I have been sustained and encouraged in my heart through the biographical works and devotional works of Benedict, Spurgeon, Piper, Nouwen, John Perkins, and others. I am fascinated about the new monasticism, especially as described by John D. Hayes in Sub-merge and Shane Claiborne in Irresistible Revolution and Schools of Conversion.
My main means of sanity are prioritizing my devotional rhythm in life, loving my wife, playing with my kids and giving them time, sweating out my frustrations, anger, fears, and stresses through physical exercise as described by Crossfit.com and rosstraining.com.

Is this possible that the young man from public health in Bemidji MN many years ago who spoke to my classes about HPV is in Atlanta as a full-time pastor? So I see this article in the summer issue of EFCA Today and I thought to myself…na…then I did a quick search and sure enough. This seems to be the case. Shoot me an email back and lets talk. Hi Tim: My name is Sandy Olson. I live in Burnsville, MN and attend Trinity EFC in Lakeville, MN. I saw your picture and article in the EFCA Today magazine. Your name and face are familiar. My son, Matt, went to Valley Middle School in Apple Valley, MN, with a Tim Isaacson. Could this be you?
I know you’re very busy, but if you have a chance, would like to know if you are the same Tim? Thanks!

Hi Sandy. I don’t think I’m the same Tim Isaacson. I went to middle school in TX.
As far as I know there are two types of Isaacsons: Scandanavian heritage and Jewish heritage. I’m of the Jewish line (although my mom’s side is Scandanvian from MN).
That being said, I’d love to meet you or Matt if you’re ever in the Atlanta, GA area. I pray that life at Trinity is spectacularly beautiful.
