Hi Jewl. The funny part about the vision on the toilet is that they read most of the story on the blog at my commencement. But because it was at a Presbyterian Seminary with lots of important people in attendance the President doing the address said I had a vision "at an important moment." I gotta go...I think about to have a "moment." Brian will understand.

Hey, friends and Christ's family at Open Table!
I have reason to be thinking of you all with affection: I'm filling out our church membership form (I know, much much belated!); I prayed with two couples suffering with years of infertility last Sunday, reminding us of Northside's special body who prayed for us during those difficult days, then rejoiced with us when first one, then another child was born to us; and just now we were looking at your website to talk over those same girls who have asked us to baptize them later this month! We got to see pictures of baptisms of others we know from Open Table, some of whom we've prayed for and care about, including Nathan Brussat, who was born at the same time in the same hospital as Brianna, our first!
I also had a chance to read some of Tim's blog--and enjoyed the depth of insight and humility he presented it with. (I must say, I especially enjoyed the story of receiving a vision for becoming pastor on the toilet!)
 Take care! Love y'all!
Jewl for Brian, Brianna and Amber too

Your comments have me thinking about the blessings and challenges. I hope it didn't take away from the blessings of community being a space where someone is known and loved for who they are. It's just that it's never sustained by the good stuff, but how we handle the (much more frequent) hard stuff.

Anyway, thank you for commenting.

Wow, this is a lot to think about. I think you're exactly right, and it definitely challenges my rosy perspective on what community is all about. But if we're going to enter into true community, we need to know up front that all this stuff you said is what we are signing up for, lest we get disillusioned and quickly flee when it gets tough. Thanks for your excellent and challenging description of what community is really all about.

Hi Sandy. I don't think I'm the same Tim Isaacson. I went to middle school in TX.

As far as I know there are two types of Isaacsons: Scandanavian heritage and Jewish heritage. I'm of the Jewish line (although my mom's side is Scandanvian from MN).

That being said, I'd love to meet you or Matt if you're ever in the Atlanta, GA area. I pray that life at Trinity is spectacularly beautiful.

Hi Tim: My name is Sandy Olson. I live in Burnsville, MN and attend Trinity EFC in Lakeville, MN. I saw your picture and article in the EFCA Today magazine. Your name and face are familiar. My son, Matt, went to Valley Middle School in Apple Valley, MN, with a Tim Isaacson. Could this be you?
I know you're very busy, but if you have a chance, would like to know if you are the same Tim? Thanks!

Is this possible that the young man from public health in Bemidji MN many years ago who spoke to my classes about HPV is in Atlanta as a full-time pastor? So I see this article in the summer issue of EFCA Today and I thought to myself...na...then I did a quick search and sure enough. This seems to be the case. Shoot me an email back and lets talk. II THES 3:1 Karl

This is so the truth. There is no way to fully enter into their world and truly experience their pain. We can only walk beside it and occassionally be touched by it. Do you think Jesus ever felt this way? He obviously spoke and felt very deeply about the plight of others and the lost nature of how they lived. The difference was that He had the power to lift people out of their situation, but mostly to assure them of his presence within the situation. In any situation, we cannot fully experience someone else's pain, like when someone is going through an illness. All we can do is walk with them and offer support.
